Hobson family papers
These papers were created by one branch of the Hobson family, early settlers in what is now known as Ventura County. Abram Lincoln Hobson (1861 – 1929) owned land throughout southern California and was an owner of Hobson Brothers Packing Company and Hobson City Markets. He was also actively involved in the local community. The documents include both business and personal correspondence and papers relating to his land holdings and business interests.
Collection of ledgers
The ledgers in this collection were donated to the museum over several years. Many belong to either the Superior Court of Ventura County or various offices and departments within the county's administration, as well as several private businesses or clubs. There are also a few still unidentified ledgers. The ledgers contain notes, financial accounts, or administrative records for a wide variety of agencies and businesses. Some ledgers may contain additional papers or correspondence.
Henry J. Oliva papers
Peirano family papers
The Peiranos were a family of Italian immigrants who arrived in Ventura County in the late nineteenth century. They owned land throughout the county, but their ownership of Peirano Market, a mainstay of downtown Ventura businesses for nearly one hundred years, made them an integral part of the community's identity. These papers include both their personal and property related legal documents.
